"I Support The Public Option" started in a basement by two people who were upset about current health care issues. The thought of the pain, fear, and hardship that the current health care system imposes on those we know and don't know was simply too severe to ignore. Just like the opposing voices at town hall meetings we want to scream as loud as we can to stop this cruel system that hurts our people so much and we are so eager to ignore. We want to cry from the realization that personalities, families, and human potential are being stunted and destroyed by this environment. We are frustrated and depressed by the impotence of our voice. We struggled hard to sublimate these passions into isupportthepublicoption.org : A peaceful, accessible, and potentially powerful vehicle for supporters of the public option to make their voices heard.
Most of our elected officials will not pass reform that includes a public insurance option unless we tell them they must. It is so important that you let your leaders know that you will not accept health reform without the choice of a public health insurance option.
At a minimum, record a video petition and call, write, or fax your elected leaders. Talk to your friends, family, and colleagues about the importance of a public health insurance option. Most people don't understand how the option will affect them. Ease their worries and let them know what it will do.
